” Hi! My name is Patrick Carman. My interest in music began during my elementary years. In middle school I found myself in many school musicals taking on a variety of roles. As I continued to grow so did my love for the theater life. This passion did not diminish with the toss of my graduation cap, in fact it grew more intense with supports from my family and friends.
I started community theater after graduation and never looked back. To date I have been involved in 32 productions and this number keeps growing! I have always wanted to use my love for theater and music to give back to my community.
10 years ago, I created and sold a CD of Broadway songs, and donated the proceeds to the Golisano Children’s Hospital. Through this effort, $7,500 was raised, which exceeded my expectations.”
On Friday, September 27th Patrick, was invited to attend the 10th birthday celebration of Golisano where the Upstate Foundation announced a gift of $3 million from Paychex founder and philanthropist Tom Golisano to establish a center for special needs at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.
The Golisano Center for Special Needs will provide comprehensive, coordinated and scientifically based medical and behavioral care for children and adolescents with many types of intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Center will also serve as a framework to increase collaboration resulting in better patient care, centralizing programs and services.
At the event, which he attended with his mother Colleen and father, LIFEPlan CNY Regional Liaison Kevin Carman, Patrick said, “I was very proud and honored to be invited to this celebration and be recognized for my efforts. It also provided me an opportunity to reconnect with many of the doctors and nurses who provided me supports over the years.”
