Positive News as we Approach Spring

It is hard to believe that we are now entering the third year of living with a pandemic. It has been an exceedingly difficult period for everyone, especially for our members and our families. We are finally seeing some relief from COVID and the many restrictions that it put onto our lives. As a parent of a son with a disability, I am eager to help him return to some of the activities that he enjoyed prior to this pandemic. Spring signals a new beginning and we are all hoping this one marks the end of COVID and the start of a return to normal.

During COVID, LIFEPlan, like all organizations, had to make changes to how we performed care coordination to protect our members and our employees. We worked together with New York State, the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and our Member and Family Advisory Councils to implement new ways to support our members. We began using new technologies including videoconferencing. We did not stop seeing our members during this period, but we did rely on other safer ways to connect to minimize the risk.

With the easing of pandemic-related precautions and the public health emergency. We are anxious to resume our in-person meetings with our members and families. Connecting regularly with your Care Manager is the best way to develop a relationship that supports the needs of you or your family member. Our Care Managers chose this field because they like being a part of our members’ lives and helping them achieve their goals and dreams.

Your Care Manager will be reaching out to schedule an in-person meeting with you soon. They have missed seeing you and I am sure you want to see more of them.

LIFEPlan remains sensitive to individual needs and will offer a telehealth option for those who may be at increased risk and need special accommodation.

Here is to the end of winter, the end of two long years of a pandemic and to new beginnings. LIFEPlan is committed to your health, safety and success. If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.
