Pizza and More!

With all the disruptions that have been created by the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be challenging to find the little things in life that bring us joy.  With the closing of many restaurants, theaters and most community attractions we find ourselves wanting some “normalcy” and comfort. Sometimes that comfort comes from eating our favorite foods.

To LIFEPlan member Liam Inglis, that means pizza! On a not so typical, cold April afternoon, Liam’s pizza was delivered in a very special way. As Liam waited outside, a parade of Eastchester police cars delivered his pizza in style. Several police cars with sirens blaring made the special delivery. Liam was ecstatic! Jennifer, Liam’s mom, commented that Liam has always been a big fan of the police and of course, pizza! So combining the two was a no brainer. She went on to say, even though he misses his school routine and seeing his friends, this act of kindness meant a lot to both Liam and his family.

Liam’s LIFEPlan Care Manager, Ana Torres stated, “Liam loved the parade of Police cars and the pizza because it was just for him.” She was disappointed she could not be there to experience this special event with him, but enjoyed the video and watching Liam’s excitement.

Giving back to the community is nothing new to the Eastchester Police Department. This year they wanted to do something special to support Autism Awareness month (April)while keeping in mind all the new social restrictions currently in place, they really had to be creative. So, they worked with a local Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) and decided to offer special delivery pizza to students who attend self-contained classrooms in their districts.

If you qualify and would like to have your own special delivery during Autism Awareness Month, please contact Jennifer Inglis at 1-914-227-0816.
