Regional Liaisons

Regional Liaisons

The MFA Council Regional Liaison is a point of contact for LIFEPlan members and families when you need another person to listen, guide you to answers, or to provide feedback to the MFA Council. A team member of the MFA Council, each region has its own liaison who is a LIFEPlan parent caring for a child with disability.

Members are encouraged to reach out to the Liaison in your region with questions, concerns or support. As a parent or caregiver, the Liaison understands the journey and is ready to help.

I’m the mom of two sons with autism in the Hudson Valley. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Parent Trainer for families who have children with IDD. I am knowledgeable about the OPWDD System, Self-Direction, Early Intervention, the Education System, the Autism Spectrum, Special Diets, and  Resources for Individuals with IDD in the Hudson Valley.

I love to help other families navigate their journey with their special needs loved one and welcome your phone calls with any questions, concerns, or feedback.

Kevin Carman | Central New York |315-930-4312

I’ve navigated the services system with my son Patrick for 25 years. I have a passion for helping other families of children with IDD in getting the supports services they need.

As a Liaison, I enjoy hearing from Self-Advocates about their wants, needs, and desires when it comes to disability services. I look forward to sharing information that can help them grow and become a part of their communities.

I have a 21 year old daughter Veronica who has Downs syndrome.. I enjoy encouraging other families new to IDD services and sharing available resources that may help them.

As a liaison, I have the chance to connect to families who are unfamiliar with disability services and it is so fulfilling being able to point them in the right direction an help them find what they need.

Shailene Fellows | Southern Tier | 607-252-6238

My middle son Nathanael is a LIFEPlan member. In addition to working part time for LIFEPlan, I’m a Self Directed Start Up and Support Broker as well as a New York State Housing Navigator.

I started to volunteer in the inclusive special education classroom in high school. When I became a mom to an extra needs child, I knew what I was being prepared to do in life. I could now understand what other parents felt and needed. As a Liaison, I am able to to expand my knowledge and help other individuals and families dream, plan and achieve.
