SHARE YOUR VOICE AT NEW YORK’S OLMSTEAD LISTENING SESSIONS
New York State is working on a new Olmstead Plan, which is a plan that helps make sure people with disabilities can live in the communities they choose, and with the supports they need. To help shape this work, there will be nine virtual listening sessions hosted on the Olmstead Plan, and we encourage ACANY and LIFEPlan members and families to attend and share their voices.
Topic-Based Listening Sessions
Each topic-based session will be three hours long and will focus on a key area of life for people with disabilities. There will be three topic-based sessions in total:
Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from Noon – 3 pm
Session 1: Access to Services and Supports
Getting the help you need – like housing, healthcare, or transportation – when you need it.
Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
Session 2: Rights Protection and System Accountability
Knowing your rights are protected, being treated with dignity, and having systems that work and respond fairly.
Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 11 am – 2 pm
Session 3: Community Integration and Choice
Living where and with whom you want, making your own choices, and being part of your community.
