Congress has not yet reached an agreement on funding and the federal government is currently shut down. As a result, on November 1, federal funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has run out.
SNAP is an essential program that provides benefits to low-income households to help them pay for food. Approximately 42 million Americans rely on SNAP benefits, including many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The loss of funding for this essential program will have a significant impact on people with disabilities, as well as on the direct support workforce that supports community-based services.
Now is the time to take action: Please contact your members of Congress and urge them to ensure continued federal funding for SNAP benefits.
