OPWDD Launches the 2025–2026 National Core Indicators In Person Survey

More than 2,000 adults across New York State, aged 18 and older, will be invited to take part in a survey about OPWDDs services they receive.

Who Will Be Contacted?

Starting at the end of January 2026, OPWDD will mail letters to adults invited to participate. People with all types of developmental disabilities may receive a letter.

What Is the NCI In‑Person Survey?

The National Core Indicators (NCI) In‑Person Survey (IPS) is a voluntary survey that helps OPWDD understand the lives, experiences, and opinions of people who receive services. The goal is simple: to learn how OPWDD can support people better.

Taking the survey is your choice. Whether you decide to take part or not, your services and supports will not change.

How Does the Survey Work?

OPWDD is working with Vital Research. Beginning in January 2026, their trained interview team will reach out to the individuals who were selected.

If you choose to take part, you can decide how you want to do the interview:

  • In person, or
  • On Zoom (Zoom interviews will follow HIPAA privacy rules)

You can pick the option that’s most comfortable for you.

Why Your Voice Matters

Your feedback helps OPWDD understand what is working well and what needs to improve. When you share your thoughts, you help shape the future of disability services in New York State.
